Rollout of the Eastern Suburbs EV Charging Station Network

In June 2019, Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra councils were the first councils in NSW to launch a network on on-street electric vehicle charging network. EV chargers have been installed and are now operating at Bondi Beach, Double Bay, Coogee Beach, Maroubra, Randwick (x2) and Bondi Junction (TBC in December 2019). All electricity provided by the chargers will be sourced through renewable energy, The installation of the EV charging stations is in response to a 2017 survey that showed that 65 per cent of Eastern Suburbs residents said they’d consider purchasing an EV in their next purchase, with 78 per cent citing lack of charging infrastructure as a major barrier to purchase.
